Bonarda

Bonarda is a red wine grape grown in Argentina. It is considered the second most important red grape, behind Malbec. The grape originated in Savoie in France but it has since almost completely disappeared in Europe. Some can be found in the United States where it goes by the name of Charbono. The wines can range from lighter bodied, fruity reds to more concentrated wines with dense fruit and jammy characteristics. It is a versatile grape that can be made into white, rosé, red and even sparkling wines. Because of its lower tannin and higher acidity it is a very versatile food wine. Pair it with beef, lamb, pork or even chicken dishes.
