Naoussa xinomavro with six years of age is just a baby, seemingly evolved but in so many ways, anything but. The...

Medium intensity aromas of cherry, strawberry, some florals and sweet spices. Supple tannins on the medium-bodied palate with very nice aroma replays. Acids are nicely balanced. Finishes long and dry with a hint of mineral notes. Good tannic structure will allow this to age well. Drink now or over the next 6-8 years. Tasted Nov/2015.

Re-tasted Sept 2018: perhaps a bit more evolved now 2 yrs on but still lovely.
Original note:
The pale red colour gives a first sign of the long ageing process that this wine receives at the winery. Indeed, there are mature flavours of dried fruit, and earthy notes (old wood?). Tart red fruit and some dry tannin folder into the mix....like some "traditional" Italian reds. New world wine fans may turn up their nose at this but I loved it. Wines like this show that the homogenization of the wine world is not complete. Thanks Boutari. Tasted Sept 2016.
