Both fun to say and rare to see, this pinot noir from the volcanic soils of the Ahr is simply delightful. Peppery and...

Discovered this one hiding in the cellar, purchased exactly two years ago today. The additional aging time has no doubt been beneficial - this is a very impressive wine, with great balance and fruit, coupled with enticing savoury notes. It is perhaps the best pinot I've encountered from Germany, and puts me in mind of Central Otago at its best. Alas, only the one lonely bottle in the cellar, but I'll be on the watch for pinots from the Ahr Valley in the future.

This way overdelivers. Suprsing peppery nose, but lots of small berry fruit as well to identify it as PN. Med bodied, juicy with herbal notes that will evolve to forrest floor over time, methinks. Good density and length; this is not light PN. Not a lot of finesse, but very enjoyable. Made for food.

Such a fun wine to bring to the table. Not often we get to see German Pinot Noir and it's a shame because this one shines. Loads of fresh strawberry and blackberry to go along with the peppery and floral notes. It's mid-weight with big tangy acidity keeping it very refreshing. It's not incredibly complex, but it's incredibly well put together at a very nice price. Snatch this one up while it's still available. Tasted April 2015

Thanks for the recommendation winealign. For the price was a surprise from a german Pinot. Succulent and a bit sour but wonderfully flavourful with good fruit and something unique in the flavour profile; possibly the umami that Mr. Szabo refers to or the ripeness described by Mr. Godel. An interesting wine and great value!

Great mix of old and new hear with loads of fruits but balanced with a touch of oaky pepper and smoke with a slight kick on the finish to bring it back into the burgundian realm. Excellent at this price.
