This is a nicely composed, fresh and ripe young southern Rhone, but it lacks some length in this vintage. Very...

The 2011 Le Ferme Du Mont Le Ponnant Côtes Du Rhône Villages, composed of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, has appealing aromas of pine, blackberry, black cherry, raspberry and faint vanilla. It is a medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine, with good acidity, refined tannins (decant for 30+ min) and a medium, silky finish. It is food/sipper friendly; it will benefit from cellaring drink now – 2020. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90-91 pts – recommended buy, especially for the price. Interesting fact, LCBO bought 2,700 cases – one of the largest Vintage purchases. Tasted at La Ferme Du Mont luncheon hosted by Stéphane Vedeau July/13.

Grenache-dominated blend. Medium-high intensity aromas of lush blackberry, black fruits, and hints of oak. Medium-full bodied with smooth, integrated tannins. Complex palate consists of dark currants, exotic spices, and hints of violets and oak. Has mouth-watering acidity and a lingering finish. Very nice and highly recommended! Tasted July/2013.

This Cote du Rhone Villages is great value. Medium bodied with length and complexity, this wine shows a nice balance between fruit, herbs, acidity and tannins. Cherry, pepper, vanilla and a hint of mocha. Excellent shmeck factor as a food playmate. At this price, grip it n' sip it for sure. 90+. August 2013.

Very nice Cote du Rhone, a particularly gratifyingly long finish not usually found in this price range.

It's only wine but I like it

Instantly recognizably Cotes du Rhone, with ripe red fruits, loads of local herbs, and black pepper. Fine complexity for the price, this red is very smooth and appoachable now, with sufficient structure for short-term (up to 3 years) of cellaring. But, while this wine will keep, why bother? This is simply a joy to taste now. There are alot of $30+ Chateauneufs that are inferior to this. Tasted July 2013.
