Dark red berry fruit, orange blossom aroma, balanced natural acidity, silky texture. Pair with Med. roast meat, baked lasagna, aged cheese beside a winter fireplace! Serve at 15 - 17c. Lovely balance with food. 2nd bottle: much lighter, nose does not appear until 16c, still one of my favorites
Agree with Steve that this is a top-50 value pick and QPR is definitely *** using J. S's scale. Contrary to prior comments, this wine is aged and fermented in s-steel ie unoaked - so the tannins are either native grape tannins or enological. Regardless, they are currently fine-grit and beautiful. This wine is very enjoyable now but will improve over the next 2-4 years, though I doubt there is enough acidity to last much beyond that. Enjoy with red-meat dishes of course, but really you want to try this with room-temperature brie and black pepper - extraordinary. Go get some dammit!
this is the best red wine that I have tasted in a very long time. Bold yet smooth. It is a must to try.
Impressive complexity with a graphite note reminiscent of high quality cabernet. This is very hard to beat for the money.
Blackberries, mint, and chocolate on the nose. It has lots of fruit and firm tannin. This wine can age for at least another 2-3 years.
Wow, this is a wine of amazing density and flavour. Nothing is out of place. Fine ripe fruit, oak well in check, good backbone, and a very decent finish. Lovely stuff. And $13?? You have to be kidding me. Kudos to Steve and Sara for this great recommendation. Drink now or can hold a few years for sure. Tasted July 2014.
