Wakefield Wines Taste Along – Sep 18

Discover the Magic of Australia’s Wakefield Wines & Support Project Seahorse.

Saturday, September 18 (5pm)

NOTE: Sales for the special mixed case have ended but two of the three wines are available for purchase at the LCBO.

Please join WineAlign Principal Critic Michael Godel and Wakefield Wines Company Director Justin Taylor for a taste along webinar at 5:00pm EST on Saturday, September 18th. Michael and Justin will discuss all things related to the Taylor family’s history in Australia, including how his dad Bill, along with his grandmother and grandfather, great uncle and great aunt transitioned a 1960s hotels and beer business to become one of Australia’s most successful and respected wine brands. The Taylor family’s South Australian Clare Valley terroir, forays into McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Coonawarra and the Limestone Coast will be engaged in the context of climate change and the constant evolution to always making better wines. Perhaps most important and current in their discourse will be the Taylor family’s involvement with Project Seahorse.

Did you know forty percent of Canada’s surface area is marine and we have the longest coastline of any country? That means we need to pay attention to the health of our oceans. Seahorses have been a symbol on all Wakefield wine bottles for over fifty years, in fact tiny fossilized seahorses were found the day the winery dug their first vineyard dam and have since been a symbol of fertile soils.

You can support Project Seahorse by donating directly to them. (Project Seahorse.)

Michael and Justin will share some laughs, memories and taste through three quintessential Wakefield estate wines. Below are the three wines that will be tasted. If you’d like to taste along, the wine can be purchased in the special 6-bottle mixed case (2 bottles of each) which will be delivered to your door in time for the event. Please note that the 6-bottle case is now SOLD OUT. The price of the case ($120) includes a $20 donation to Project Seahorse. Two of the wines will also be available for purchase at the LCBO prior to the webinar.
