Wines of Rueda Happy Hour – Oct 14

An Insider’s Look at Spain’s Best Selling White Wine

Join John Szabo M.S. and Sara d’Amato for an insider’s look into the white wines of Rueda via Zoom on Thursday, October 14th at 6pm. Purchase your Passport to Rueda mixed case (NOTE: The Passport case is now sold out but individual wines are available for purchase by the case by clicking on the wine link below.) to taste along or you can just tune-in for an entertaining, interactive session focused on the diverse styles of whites produced in Spain’s top-selling white wine, Rueda. Basking in sunshine, the rocky, limestone-rich, banks of the Duero and its tributaries are home to deep-rooted verdejo and other increasingly popular varieties such as sauvignon blanc. A rarity in Europe, the region features significant plantings of own-rooted (ungrafted) vines due to its sandy, stony soils that kept phylloxera at bay in the late 19th century. Family-owned and female-led wineries have become a staple of Rueda and is demonstrated in our selections as 4 out of the 6 wineries feature female winemakers at the helm. Don’t miss this fun and informative one-hour session with Sara and John as they take you through the history of Rueda and explore verdejo.  A few of the featured wineries will also be on hand to discuss their wines and answer any of your questions. So, grab a glass of wine and join in!
