Julian (97): Practically flirting with perfection, the 2000 L’Ermite is one astounding Hermitage, capable of both enthralling the senses and captivating the imagination. Dark (faded) ruby in colour, it exudes unbelievably heavenly aromas of fragrant red fruits, dried blueberries, licorice, truffles, underbrush, mild cedarwood, pipe tobacco, graphite, and spice. Very complex, featuring astoundingly outlined, finely layered fruit, fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a sublime hint of dried plums/blueberries, truffles, and tobacco on the finish. Unbelievably elegant, full-bodied, and harmonious; the sheer pedigree of this Hermitage is enough to compel one to take pause. Enjoy for another fifteen years at least. Now-2027++. (Tasted April 2013)
