Margaret Swaine's Wine Picks

Steve (90): Chile first made itself known to wine drinkers in Canada with graceful inexpensive cabernet in the 1980's. Since then we know that they have made great strides with many other varieties. At less than $13 cabernets like this are unmatched in quality by any other region in the world. It is a pure fresh elegant wine with complexity and structure that usually costs a lot more. The youthful nose shows cassis fruit with pencil lead and some hints of oak spice and some herbal and spicy notes. The palate is very even and finely balanced with firm ripe tannin and juicy lemony acidity. Finely balanced with excellent length. Enjoy with fine cuisine. Best 2015 to 2019. Tasted October 2015.
