This wine is very approachable - the aroma is rustic and slightly funky with some attractive barnyard notes. The flavour is good with tastes of figs and dark berries mixed with firm tannins and a moderately dry finish. This does not show the sometimes overly sweet character of Californian Zinfandels - which is a good thing - but this wine definitely needs time to age to come into its own. In a couple of years, this could score much more.
Tasted blind at a Beefsteak & Burgundy Club event, May 2015.
