Sourcing fruit specifically from its carefully attended Niagara-on-the-Lake estate vineyard, Lailey Vineyard consistently avoids [underripe grapes], even in the most challenging years. The newly released 2005 Cabernet offers an appealing mix of plum, blueberry and red fruit flavours in its medium-bodied, food-friendly package. This is definitively cool climate Cabernet, with refreshing acidity and savoury spice accents, but it's cool climate in the best sense. This is polished, elegant and refined; a red wine with grip and persistence and intensity. Score - (4 out of 5). (Christopher Waters, www.watersandwine.com, Dec.12, 2007)
