Still young, so it needs about 30 minutes to open up in your glass. Offers cherry-cola, vanilla with hints of black pepper and smoke. The palate has some tension – starts smooth but there’s an edgy bitterness that needs to calm down a bit.

Clifford Bay is an overripe and jammy example of Pinot. Deep ruby in colour with ample notes of berried fruit. Medium weight with a rather hot finish. Tasty but the Alcohol at 14.5 really overpowers this wine. Components need a bit more balance.
