Agree with all reviewers below. Much better value at $28 or $30 than original $40 price tag.

This dark ruby 2010 Bordeaux blend exhibits dark fruit on the nose and palate. French oak aging is manifest by chocolate, spice box and cedar. This is drinking nicely now with decanting or paired with a steak, but tannins still have some grip. It could cellar a few years yet. Very smooth. Excellent length. June 2014.

The 2010 Château des Charmes Equuleus, composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot that was aged in French Oak for one year, is a medium bodied, fruity to integrated wine, with intense notes of raspberry, cherry, dates and vanilla. It has a good structure, refined tannins (decant for 30-60 min) and a fruit forward, long finish. Enjoy by itself; drink now – 2020+. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts. Tasted Oct/12.

Re-review of 2010 Equuleus: The 2010 Equuleus has intense aromas of cherry, raspberry, red currant, some Earthy notes, pepper and dark chocolate. It is light to medium bodied, integrated, with balanced acidity and refined tannins, a long and smooth finish. Again, my impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts. Tasted Mar/13.

I taste prunes, with a little Cabernet Franc buzz. Very smooth, with no flaws. It definitely grew on me.

Dark ruby in colour with a medium+ intense nose.

One of my favourite from Des Charmes, but even better that it's at $30

Positives: This complex wine features cedar, blackcurrants, plums, dark cherry, raspberry, red & black peppers, turmeric, Allspice, mocha & leather. Medium+ body with medium tannins, good acidity & a long length.

Negatives: None

Drink now or in the next 7 years on its own or pair it with braised beef shank.

Tasted: 31 March 2014

Score: 9/10, Value: 8.5/10 (Clearance Price: 9/10), Total: 17.5/20

Out of 5 stars, I rated this wine: 4

Blend of 50% Cab Sauv, 25% Cab Franc and 25% Merlot brings aromas of cassis, smoke and oak. On the palate, there is more cassis, plus vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Very smooth with well-integrated tannins. Lovely! Tasted June/2012.
