Very sweet and continued to be drinkable many weeks after opening.

Massandra was constructed in the 1890s to supply the summer palace of the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II. The Tsar's were known for many things, but not for skimping on quality. Floral with suitably rich aromas of caramel, apricot, and honey. Lovely flavour replays, excellent acidity, and a lengthy finish. It will reign supreme when served with poached pears, or salty blue cheeses and walnut bread. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2012)
