Aug 2012: Very fine, and very Tuscan, with the Cab supporting the Sangiovese to give body and richness. Nose is full & ripe, with nice herbal notes and something like the "cigar box" you get from good Bordeaux. Full bodied, round and just loaded with earthy, umami-driven flavour --clean as a whistle, though, nothing funky. Lovely lingering finish. Lovely now, but plenty of life left.

This wine is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, dark ruby in color, intense and masculine aromatics of blackberry, blueberry, forest floor, minerals and toasty cedar notes. On the mouthfeel, medium-full bodied (14% Alcohol), concentrated black fruit flavours, black olives, pleasant acidity and firm tannins. Very good length on the finish with flavours of dark fruit, blueberry, cedar and savoury spices, fresh acidity gives it a nice lift with fine grained tannins lingering. Awesome wine, love Sangiovese / Cabernet Sauvignon blend, strongly recommended.

The 2007 Fattoria Di Basciano Il Corto is a medium bodied, nicely aromatic, INTEGRATED to aged wine. On the nose, it is dominated by cedar and leather, whereas the palate senses black cherry and faint coconut. It still has quite tight tannins that are in balance with acidity (decant between 1 to 2 hours, but not any longer) and the finish is long and smooth. I love tannins, so for me it is good to drink now, yet it still has the potential to evolve (mostly by mellowing out the tannins) and should be at its best around 2014 till 2020. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts - I definitely recommend this wine to those who enjoy tannins. Tasted Apr/11.

I found it mid to full bodied, lots of flavour with a smooth finish once it was decanted for a few hours. Glad I took a chance and bought a case. Excellent wine.
