In 2005, after a decade working at private wine stores in Winnipeg, Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson became the weekly wine/drinks writer for the Winnipeg Free Press (where he is also the literary editor and arts writer). In 2016, Ben was awarded a fellowship by the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers and completed his WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. During its three-year run in Winnipeg, Ben was also the wine curator at the Interstellar Rodeo music festival, where he selected wines for the festival (including pairing wines with artists such as Beck, Wilco, k.d. Lang and more). Ben has judged at local, national and international wine competitions, including numerous times at WineAlign’s National Wine Awards of Canada and the B.C. Wine Awards.
