From estate vineyards, Montelena fashions an old style, classic California Zinfandel. Even better is the unbottled 2007 Zinfandel Estate, which exhibits a slightly darker ruby/purple color as well as a big, seductive nose of black cherries, briery mountain fruit, earth, pepper, herbs, and new saddle leather.
