Vibrant violet hues are particularly remarkable in the apperance of this Malbec. The wine is feminine and floral but...

Flashes of violet is the first thing you notice when pouring this wine. Aromas of plum, black cherry and blackberry greet you next, along with some woodsy herbaceous-ness. The palate has plenty of fruit, but also some violet, black pepper and cinnamon. It's medium to full bodied with a healthy dose if juicy acidity, but feels soft and silky in the mouth. Medium finish. An impressive wine at this price.

What a great nose on this Malbec, with aromas of cherry, dark plum, blackberry, spices, vanilla and floral notes. On the palate, medium-full bodied, red fruit and gentle wood spices flavours with fresh acidity and well integrated tannins. Medium length on the finish with spicy, juicy red and black fruit flavours. This well balanced, youthful and easy drinking nature of this Malbec makes it a great value for entertaining over this summer BBQ season. I especially liked how well handled the oak treatment was on this Malbec, by doing so; it preserved the fruity character and freshness of this wine. Strongly recommended.

The 2009 Carla Chiaro Reserve Malbec is a Silver Medal winner at the 2011 Argentina Wine Show. It is a medium bodied, fruity to integrated wine, with intense aromas of cherry, almond, green underbrush, honey, oak, coconut and vanilla. It is on the acidic side, has chalky tannins that are refined to tannic (decant for 15-30 min) and a medium, silky finish. This food friendly wine can be drunk now or cellared for 5-10 years, with the potential to improve. My impression: NICE, 90 pts - recommended buy with cellaring potential, especially at this price. Aug/12.

Plums, meatiness, herbs, and mint on the nose. It has plenty of fruit, softening tannins, and is medium-bodied. Very well balanced wine and good value at the price.

A good value Argentinean red that will give back much more than you have invested. Rich ripe black fruit such as blue and blackberry on the nose while the palate is by no means heavy; vibrant plum skin, balanced oak and a touch of spice - delicious. The clean acidity will cut through the weight of heavier food styles and sauces. Tasted July 2012.
