A gregarious and sour-edged entry marks the ’14 Col d’Orcia with plenty of spice. Cinnamon and star anise are exotic...

This organic Brunello is made with 100% Sangiovese and offers an highly aromatic nose of sweet cinnamon and clove spices mingling with red cherry, rose floral, and dried cherry aromas. It's full-bodied with earthy and wood spice flavours followed by appealing aroma replays. A touch warming on the mid-palate, but still well-balanced with very good acidity and dusty, grippy tannins. Savoury and earthy notes linger on the long finish. Drink to 2030. Tasted Sept/2019.

A bit pricey for what was a crappy year in BdM, but good producers make good wine even in challenging harvests. Just not *great* wine.
