Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Villa Maria Taylors Pass Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Sustainable, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$29.95
From a site next to the Awatere River on stony and silt soils, this has a fairly intense flinty mineral, citrus, herbal, and lemongrass nose that is a touch creamy on the medium+ bodied palate and balanced with lively acids. Nicely textured and quite minerally on palate with herbal and lemon citrus notes that continue through to the finish with excellent length. A serious Sauvignon Blanc for the table to enjoy over the next 4+ years. Tasted Mar/2020. Score: 91+ pts
Ken Forrester Sparklehorse Sparkling Chenin Blanc 2020, Traditional Method, Wo Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch, South Africa$29.95
Aged for 7 months on lees and 28 months sur lattes, this has an elegant, citrusy, hay, orchard fruit, green apple, quince, and pear aromas of generous intensity. On the palate it's dry with elegant and charming bubbles which lift the minerally and spice flavours accented by some autolytic and leesy notes. It has clean acidity that delivers a fine mouthfeel, while the crisp finish has very good length. Tasted June 2024.
Inniskillin Niagara Vidal Icewine 2022, VQA Niagara Peninsula (375ml)
Ontario, Canada$46.95
Intensely fragrant aromas of honeyed orange marmalade, apricot, candied ginger & peach, plus orange zest, caramel & lemon citrus notes adding further interest. It is delectably sweet on the impressively concentrated, medium-full bodied palate w/ gorgeous honeyed orange marmalade, apricot, candied ginger, peach, lemon citrus & orange zest replays. It's lusciously sweet, but not cloying due to fresh, juicy & lemony acidity. Touch of spice on mid-palate. Nicely balanced throughout, with caramel & honey notes lingering on the long, crisp, sticky & very tasty finish. Tasted Jan. 2025. Score: 92+ pts
Jean Max Roger La Grange Dimiere Sancerre Rosé 2020, A.C.
Loire, France$26.95
This 100% Pinot Noir rosé has a fresh, elegant, and intense nose with attractive aromas of grapefruit, citrus, red currant, strawberry, red cherry, and mineral. It's medium+ bodied with good weight to the fruit with lovely grapefruit, citrus and red berry flavours coming through on the dry palate. Acids are well-balanced, while white pepper spice notes join the grapefruit, citrus, and red berry profile on the mid-palate, lingering through to the long, leesy mineral finish. Tasted Aug/2021. Score: 90+ pts
Huff Cuvée Peter F. Sparkling 2021, VQA Prince Edward County, Ontario, Traditional Method
Ontario, Canada$45.00
100% Chardonnay. This has an elegant, medium-high intensity nose of citrusy, pastry, biscuit, almond, lemon citrus, stone fruit, and white peach aromas. The medium-full bodied palate is ripe with a kiss of sweetness and lovely pastry, biscuit, almond, toasty, ripe apple, pear, and citrus flavours in a complex profile. It has an exquisite mouthfeel supported by clean and fresh acidity. Elegant mousse and fine bubbles. Excellent balance throughout with biscuit, almond, brioche, toasty, and citrusy notes lingering on the long finish. Tasted May 2025.
Greywacke Riesling 2018, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$29.95
Screw cap. Lovely, highly aromatic nose is slightly reductive and features earthy mineral, leesy, and petrol notes followed by lime zest, citrus, and floral aromas. It has lively, vibrant acidity on the medium+ bodied palate with fine concentration. Nicely textured with citrus, floral, and apple flavours. There's some sweetness, but it is relatively hidden due to the high acidity. Apple, floral, and stony mineral notes linger on the long, lip-smacking finish. Lovely! Tasted Oct/2020.
Domaine Hamelin Vau Ligneau Chablis 1er Cru 2019, A.C.
Burgundy, France$39.95
Beautiful, fresh, intensely aromatic nose offers ripe lemon citrus, leesy mineral, golden apple, and lactic notes. The medium+ bodied palate is refined and elegant with more lemon citrus, golden apple, and mineral replays joined by subtle spicy tones and a twist of honey. Acids are fresh and crisp. There's good tension between the fruit and acidity, and it's nicely balanced overall. Lovely mineral, lemon citrus, and apple notes are subtly smoky on the finish, with excellent length. Tasted July 2022.
Durigutti Proyecto Las Compuertas 1914 Malbec 2018, Luján De Cuyo
Mendoza, Argentina$29.95
The 2018 Durigutti Proyecto Las Compuertas Cinco Suelos Malbec has a highly aromatic and energetic nose that offers attractive aromas of red and black fruits, raspberry and blackberry that mingle with savoury stony minerals and spices. It's medium-full bodied with lovely aroma replays lifted by fresh, balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins that are slightly chalky and grippy, tapering to a savoury, minerally, slightly smoky finish, with excellent length. Really nicely balanced throughout. Tasted Aug/2021.
Trapiche Terroir Series Finca Coletto Malbec 2017, El Peral, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$45.00
Medium-high intensity nose is deep & dark fruited, slightly reductive & bretty, but laying underneath are complex aromas of spice, black and red fruit, currant, forest floor, earthy, and stony mineral notes. Impressively structured, medium-full bodied palate it has lovely dark fruited blackberry, blueberry, stony mineral & dried spice notes with hints of black plum. Succulent acids are fresh & juicy, while the suave, structured tannins have a slightly chalky grip. Some warmth on mid-palate, but still well-balanced. Excellent length on stony mineral, slightly tart berry finish. Tasted Oct/2021.
