Domaine Anita Tres Vieilles Vignes Les Caves Moulin à Vent 2020, A.C.

I didn't expect Gamay to be able to compete with Burgundy Pinot but here we are. The wine had aromas of pomegranate and cherry, which continued through on the palate, with a hint of black cherry and licorice. It was smooth and juicy. This might be the best Gamay I've had yet, and now I'm looking forward to trying the La Rochelle.- May 2024

Pale Garnet with Medium intensity aromas of game, red fruit, dried herbs, oak, perfume, and black pepper.

Medium-intensity flavors of sour cherry, game, thyme, vanilla, and some savory notes. Medium plus finish with medium plus acidity and medium minus grain tannins. Very soft drinking wine with some warmth thanks to the 14.5 abv.

Tolaini Al Passo 2017, Igt Toscana

Aromas of perfume, orange, plum, cherry, barnyard and a hint of molasses. The palate was full of juicy medium plus acidity to compliment the cherry, plum, orange, oak, molasses and violet notes. Dry dusty tannins at the start but settles after thirty minutes. Very soft drinking Tuscan

Beaumont Wines Chenin Blanc 2021, Bot River Walker Bay

Buttermilk on the nose along with dried herbs, pear, and tropical fruits.

The tropical fruits don't show up on the tongue, but they stick to the lips at the end of each sip. But before that, there is lots of lemon, and sharp acidity that slams the back of the teeth. If you love citrus this is for you with a bit of sour peach.

It's very good with Foie Gras Terrine, but even better with European Sea Bass, a combo that gives goosebumps.

San Felice Il Grigio Riserva Chianti Classico 2019, Sustainable, Docg

Floral with a hint of earthy aromas along with raspberry ,orange, dried cherry, licorice and game. Juicy acidity on the palate with black cherry, raspberry, Orange, tomato and oak. Some dry tannins as it warms up. Nice chianti but should be even better in a year or two

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2022, Wo Stellenbosch

Apple, cream, lemon, and lime on the nose and tongue with some oak spice on the finish. Lovely acidity makes this a thirst-quenching wine. April 2024

Château La Prade 2018, A.C. Bordeaux Côtes De Francs

Aromas of plum, black cherry, bell pepper, potting soil, and violet.

The palate was juicy black fruits, licorice, subtle oak, alcohol, and some earthy notes. All this was backed by mouthwatering acidity that quickly tame the tight tannins that one expects from a young Bordeaux. Had a long nice floral and citrus finish.

Mazzei Ser Lapo Riserva Chianti Classico 2018, Docg

Nice supple complex wine. unfolding layers of taste and smell. Plum, earth, violet, cherry, orange and some chalky tannins.

Chanson Mâcon Villages 2016, A.C.

Grapefruit, peach, grass, and oak aromas.

Light Flavours of peach, grapefruit, and cream gently coat the mouth. The finish has a subtle citrus taste that tingles like pepper, then it turns into Green melon as the finish stretches out.

Long finish and medium minus acidity on this wine, reminded me of a Sauvignon Blanc

Sweet aromas of Peach, honey, and a hint of petroleum Flavors of Cream, Grass, sour Apple, pear, lemon zest, and perfume. Long finish for this value wine.- Jan 2024
