Promote Your Wines

Winners sell more wine. It may sound simple, but it’s true. It is all part of the increased recognition that successful wines receive as a result of their strong performance in competitions.

Our judging methods, along with our national and international panel of highly experienced wine critics and experts who work in a wide range of wine positions, bestow credibility few if any, other competitions could hope for.

Since the beginning, the goal of The National was to produce meaningful results at three levels. The judges, a mix of writers, critics, buyers, and consultants, would spend a week every year getting an up-to-date snapshot of Canadian wines. The wineries would have a surefire way of benchmarking their wines against the most extensive collection of Canadian wine assembled yearly and tasted blind. Finally, the results would be widely disseminated to consumers, giving them a window into the Canadian wine they otherwise would never get, allowing them to receive the kind of results that reflect a process that could see top wines achieve success by topping 50 to 80 of its peers in any given category. In addition, all winning wines will receive at least one review on WineAlign, and many wines will also receive reviews in French.

Direct-to-Consumer Sales: WineAlign has recently begun offering a direct-to-consumer sales option for visitors to our website. Through our new Merchant Gateway, consumers can purchase winning wines directly from you. Imagine a consumer reading about your winning wine and then being able to buy it immediately, directly from your winery or agency, in only three clicks. Go here for more information.


Results on WineAlign and in other media

Detailed results and analysis of the NWAC will appear online at WineAlign beginning in mid-July 2024. In the weeks that follow, a series of newsletters will be sent to registered users, drawing further attention to the winning wines. Award winners will have virtual medals appear with their wines in perpetuity on WineAlign. In addition, all judges are encouraged to publish the results wherever they write about wine.

Use Medal Winners in your Marketing Strategy

The NWAC results receive wide publicity from our judges as they report about the competition in their media, be it international, national or regional. Results are pre-released to the judging panel to allow them to publish in their respective media at the same time the results are released.

Make your results a key part of your marketing strategies.

Wineries and agents are encouraged to promote their success in their materials, such as shelf talkers, sell sheets, or logos, and to indicate that the results are from the WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada (NWAC).

Winning wineries and agents will be notified in early July of their competition successes to facilitate any marketing plans they intend to make referencing the NWAC. Advertising on WineAlign will further enhance the benefit of being a winning wine at NWAC.

All winners in the varietal categories are sent promotional materials.
