This terrific, almost opulent pinot gris has a ripe, complex nose of banana bread, honey and peach but it is rather...

Mature golden colour; the nose shows classic, botrytis-inflected character, with honey and wet sandstone minerality....

Golden honey in colour with a medium to medium+ intensity on the nose.

Positives: It's been a long time since I tasted a really good Pinot Gris. This features white birch, honey, apricot, white peach, lychee, sweet potato with butter, cinnamon & nutmeg. Off-dry with medium acidity, fairly long length & the alcohol is well integrated.

Negatives: Danger Will Robinson! This wine is so good it's hard not to drink 2 bottles in one sitting, but the real danger is that's its 14.5% alcohol.

Interesting Point: On a blind taste I would have guessed this as a Viognier or Gewürztraminer. Use the Viognier style glass if you have one. Unusual for a Pinot Gris to have 14.5% alcohol.

Drink now or over the next 8-12 years on its own or pair it with a spicy dish.

Wow. Alsatian wines tend to taste more of terroir than grape. In this case, the only thing that tells me it is not a great Gewurz (it does smells like one, minus litchi fruit ), is the lack of slight bitterness (and yes, lack of litchi). Bring some fois gras. Wow intensity and grace. Celebrity equivalent - Brigitte Bardot.

Exactly what I love about good Pinot Gris. Golden colour with an incredibly complex nose of orange, stone fruits, lychee, honey, and spice. On the palate, these flavours continue with the spice coming to the forefront. Full-bodied with a lovely silky texture, it's off-dry (thought it would be sweeter than it is due to the ripeness on the nose) with medium acidity to keep it balanced. Beautiful long finish. Excellent bottle of wine at an amazing price!! Tasted November 2012.

Nice citrusy, honey and pine aromas from cork. Lots or orange and tropical fruit aromas from the glass. Medium-full bodied and creamy texture with lively acidity. Aroma replays of orange and tropical fruits, plus some spice. Medium in sweetness. Quite the intensity on mid-palate, leading to a long, balanced finish. I wish I had more of this. Tasted Jan/2013.
