This is good value from the Devils Lair , an ultra-modern impressive Margaret River winery. I visited the property in the 2011 vintage, which the winemakers claimed was their driest on record. This may account for the lovely sense of mulberry-dark cherry ripeness in this shiraz, with fine chocolate and baking spices in the background. Almost no greenness or pepper which often marks Margaret River reds. It's mid-weight and poised with firm acidity and very soft tannin. Slightly earthy and charred on the finish, with very good length. Best 2013 to 2016. Score: 88 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, Dec 2012)
