The 1999 vintage, purchased at the winery a long time ago. Now over 14 years of age, I am impressed that this Bordeaux blend from Hillebrand is still very much alive. The goal here (so the label says) was to make a wine capable of lasting 15+ years, so, in that regard, mission accomplished. But is the wine good? Well, yes, but it is not great. Medium bodied, with prevalent flavours of red fruits, hints of cedar and a lean, tart, somewhat abrupt finish. So, still alive, yes, but a bit too simple and lean to be great. Drink now. Tasted Feb 2014.
