2009 in Ontario was the prime year for Pinot production. This is one of the first released and it is worth every penny and more. The Red Paw Pinot Noir is like seeing Pearl Jam in concert. There is an anxious anticipation when you see it in the glass, a familiar sweet smell in the air, and a homey realization that its gonna hit every note. Take a bottle drink it down, and pass it around. Invite wild eyed crazy Mary over and pair this with Ontario prosciutto and some Upper Canada Niagara Gold Cheese.

needs another year in bottle to fully develop, but this is the best red paw pinot I have tasted from the good folks at Coyote's run. a mix of red berries, flowers and farm land soil emerge, the palate is silky smooth, dry and structured. The finish lingers and the balanced acidity begs you to keep sipping. What a beautiful expression of Niagara Pinot.

Light ruby to garnet in colour with a medium intense nose.

Positives: A lighter old world style Pinot featuring a nice balance between fruit and earthiness. Light pine and violets, cranberry, champagne mushrooms, strawberry, cinnamon, some cherry pipe tobacco and thyme. Light body with light tannins, good acidity and a fairly long length.

Negatives: None

Drink now on its own or pair it with pâté.

Tasted: 1 Jan 13. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Starts with a nicely complex, NZ'esque nose that leads to a mild yet structured palate. Pleasant, even if a a bit linear. It would be a great value at $16. Tasted September 2011.
