The name 'Les Vignots' is a reduction of 'Vigne en haut' or 'the vineyard above' and is a playful nod to the fact that the parcel from which these grapes are sourced is located at the top of the hill above Pommard. From this site Coste-Caumartin creates a wine of tremendous complexity and depth, with rich and delicious aromas and flavours of dark fruit. Full bodied, beautifully structured and very well balanced with a great finish and length. This will generously reward 5 years in the cellar, or decant it tonight for 2 hours and serve with grilled-rare beef, or venison medallions with a pepper sauce and braised fennel.
