The 2004 Rosso di Barbagia Arbeskia is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and several indigenous varieties. This focused, mineral driven wine offers up violets, tar, earthiness, toasted oak and dark cherries, all of which are woven together in a remarkably elegant frame. The full-bodied Arbeskia comes across as fresher and firmer than the Dule. Another year or so in bottle should help soften some of the slight rough edges that remain. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018.
