The 2005 Senorio de Cuzcurrita is 100% Tempranillo sourced from a vineyard planted in 1970. It was aged for 24 months in seasoned French oak. Deep purple-colored with a brooding bouquet of cigar box, violets, leather, black cherry, and blackberry, on the palate it is medium to full-bodied with a velvety-texture, succulent black fruit, loads of earthy spice notes, and a sense of elegance. Approachable now but with 1-2 years of aging potential, it will make for pleasant drinking over the next 8-10 years. Drink: 2010-2020. Score - 92. (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, June 2010)
