Palish, fresh red. Red fruits, licorice, underbrush and earth on the nose; one smells the 14.5% alcohol. Sweet, round and rather soft, with a velvety texture and modest complexity. The flavors are a bit candied but not quite roasted. Very easy to understand, and perfect for drinking over the next three years. This is the estate's only nebbiolo bottling in 2003, and this wine is less rigorous than the 2004 barbera. "The wine lacks body and richness but has enough acidity," notes Franco Conterno. "The only limit is in its life span." Drank with roast beef
