The 2005 Carroleon offers a similar profile but is slightly more forward than the 2004 at this point. ['The 2004 Carroleon,' Jay Miller wrote, 'is also 100% Prieto Picudo and was aged for 15 months in new French and American oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep crimson-colored, it has an attractive nose of pain grille, mineral, spice box, black cherry, black raspberry, and a hint of chocolate. On the palate the wine offers layers of sweet fruit already beginning to show some complexity, an elegant personality, and enough hidden tannin to suggest that this wine could evolve for several more years.
