Blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Mourvèdre, and 10% Grenache. Medium+ intensity nose is spicy, creamy oak, herbal, cherry, and a hint of lavender. It's full-bodied with purple fruit, blackberry, and sweet oak spice notes on the palate. It has balanced acids, grippy tannins, and a long, juicy finish. Approachable now, but better in 1-2 years. Tasted July/2019. Score: 88+ pts

Not quite as ripe or substantial as some from the region, this Bertrand red scores well on balance and regional authenticity. As David notes, flavours are a tad muted but this is still quite tasty. Finish is a bit clipped but with brisk acidity and soft tannin. Tasted Nov 2019.
