NWAC_2016_croppedResults of the 2016 National Wine Awards of Canada

This is the 16th anniversary of the Awards. And the stats on this year’s judging are record-breaking. Over 1,500 wines were entered from 230 wineries, a testament to the growing number of wineries in the country, and faith in these awards as being a way to showcase and benchmark new wines.

We handed out a record number of awards as well – 16 Platinum, 103 Gold, 454 Silver and 190 Bronze. Given that a bronze must have been scored 87 points by a panel of a minimum of three judges, we have hundreds of wines in Canada that our experts felt were ‘very good’ or better. That should instill some confidence among consumers.

In addition to the individual medal winners, we have also awarded Winery of the Year, Best Performing Small Winery, Top 25 Wineries in Canada, Top 10 BC Wineries, Top 10 Ontario Wineries, and Top 10 Small Wineries

Click on the medals below to review the list of Platinum medal winners – the top 1% – followed by the GoldSilver and Bronze medal winning wines.

You can also review the style and grape variety categories in which the wines were grouped and judged, presented in alphabetical order. Each medal winning wine is linked to its individual page on WineAlign. Platinum, Gold and Silver wines will also have reviews from individual judges.
