New Zealand produces less than 1% of the world’s wine, yet offers an impressive array of varieties and styles. Central to their success is New Zealand’s temperate, maritime climate, the unswerving passion of their wine producers and the highly distinctive nature of their wine styles.

It was Sauvignon Blanc that put New Zealand on the wine map, however the diversity and sophistication of their portfolio of wine styles has ensured the love affair with New Zealand wine lives on around the world.

GB_Quartz Reef Wines_Suellen Boag_09_Bubbles at BendigoNew Zealand’s expansive coastline enables us to succeed with a range of diverse varieties and styles; from the warmer climate wines, such as Bordeaux-style blends and Syrah, grown in Hawke’s Bay and further north, through to much cooler climate wines, such as Pinot Noir and Riesling grown in the southerly regions.

Whatever your preferences for wine styles, chances are there is a New Zealand Wine to suit your palate. At the wine fair, you will be able to try a wide variety of wine styles. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy the contrast in styles of Pinot Gris – refreshingly elegant or richly complex, and discover the distinctive terroir driven styles of Pinot Noir with old world structure and new world fruit driven intensity.

Sauvignon Blanc is, indeed, New Zealand’s most widely planted variety. That is why on Friday, April 24, 2015 the New Zealand Winegrowers will be leading the charge and holding events across the world to celebrate the variety that awoke the world to New Zealand wine with the 6th annual Sauvignon Blanc Day – an online global social media wine tasting. Restaurants, retailers and consumers – along with global wine brands – will be celebrating Sauvignon Blanc for the day and participating in the Twitter conversation by using the “hashtag” #SauvBlanc. Anyone can join the celebration by enjoying a glass of New Zealand #SauvBlanc on April 24 and telling the world how good it is.
