Rod (4.5 Stars): This is a really lovely wine from a Nova Scotia producer making a name for sparkling wines. It’s quintessentially summery, made in a style that will have you looking for the second bottle before you finish the first. A blend of aromatic varieties among which muscats predominate, it shows its varietal provenance clearly. But this no simple-minded muscat or moscato, of the sweet entry-level style that has become widespread in the last couple of years. It’s a lightly effervescent rosé that’s full of complex flavours, and it carries its intensity lightly. It’s off-dry, with the sugar and acidity carefully calibrated so that you can enjoy it on its own or with lighter (probably spicier) dishes.
