Michael (88): The combined forces of French and American oak tell a yellow brick road aromatic tale. This winds along a golden path, beneath Mendocino sunshine, through verdant fields of Dahlia and Oxalis Obtusa, with the added fruit smells of coconut, lemon and almond blossom. There is beeswax in there too and a light toast linger from some forest smoulder far away. The flavours are more direct and calcified, with the acidity directing that traffic. The finesse and seamless transitions are deserving of praise. This is the most accomplished Bonterra Chardonnay I've tasted. Drink 2015-2018. Tasted June 2015.
