The aromas are of red apple, lemon, pineapple, dried apricot, almond, light butterscotch and vanilla, clove, ginger, yeasty/biscuit character, and a slight lactic note. The fruit is mostly tart lemon and red apple on the palate, the clove and ginger are more pronounced, and the oak notes are even less noticeable. This isn't a big chardonnay, but the aging on the lees has given it a nice round texture, which seems to fight with the medium-high acids a bit. The finish is medium-long with lemon, spicy ginger/clove, and biscuit. Lean and restrained, but needs time to integrate. Tasted Aug. 2016.
