The original ripasso has legions of followers but is no longer the only option. This vintage is nicely gentle, reserved and even elegant, but lacks some fruit definition and length. Soft leather, herbs and dried cherry and tomato on the nose. Also in magnum ($33.45).

This is an excellent red wine that can be enjoyed with a good meal or on it's own.
