Le Clos Jordanne Talon Ridge Vineyard Chardonnay 2007, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Vinemount Ridge
Chardonnay

$37.00 (143974)
Winemaker Thomas Bachelder uses only his best barrels sourced from a small plot within the 30 ha Talon Ridge Vineyard to make this wine. The nose displays a complex array of stone and citrus fruit aromas as well as earthy notes and nicely integrated toasty oak. Dry and medium full-bodied, it shows good density of fruit through the richly textured palate balanced by vibrant acidity. Notes of yellow plum, biscuits, flint and smoke add to the appeal as does the excellent length. This will definitely improve with another 1-3 years in the cellar. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2009)

Aromas of butterscotch, vanilla, canteloupe, and apple. Bright acidity and minerality cut through the concentrated and ripe fruit flavours. A rich, creamy texture with a long finish. Cellar for 2 to 4 years in order for full potential to shine through.
On the nose, bright aromas of pear, butter, baked apple and hints of citrus invite a sip. It’s a rich, luxurious wine on the palate, with striking acidity and minerality. The initial flavour profile is laden with citrus - lemon and white grapefruit - and then flavours of baked apple, hints of peaches and pineapple appear. This is a complex wine, as layers of minerality are available to the taster. There is a vivacious acidity keeping this wine from feeling overly buttery. The finish ebbs on the tongue, reminding the palate of the citrus flavours, baked apple and stone fruit, and finally slipping away leaving a distinct minerality behind. This is a complicated wine which will provide a great deal of pleasure to a great many people at this price point.
