Opaque, very deep purple. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, fig, black olive, tea, vanilla, and a bit of black pepper. Full-bodied with tons of tannic grip. Some rich chocolate and cherry notes on the palate, with repeats of the aromas. Very good length, with blackberry, fig and chocolate lingering along with the tannins.

A bit dull and earthy, with not much in the way on interesting fruit or character. Typical of the region, tannin is quite notable. Some hints of dark berries and tea but overall, not very interesting. Works a bit better with hearty food. Perhaps time may help but I would not hold my breath. tasted Dec 2014.
