The 2008 Finca La Emperatriz Terruno comes from a partly experimental parcel where the vines are trained two-meters high in order to maximize photosynthesis. It has a deep garnet color. The nose is stricter and tighter compared to others in the Emperatriz portfolio, with blackberry, dark plum and a touch of cedar that is all very well-defined. The palate demonstrates impressive clarity with a plush, rounded, inviting entry. There are attractive notes of brambly blackberry laced with white pepper and tar that lead into a caressing, rounded finish that belies the firm backbone.
