Price was around $35..not $50.
Finally pulled this out of the cellar. And not a moment too soon. Some BDMs I've noticed seem to age very quickly, and are drinkable much earlier than they used to be. This was certainly the case here.
This had a slight earthy/barnyard whiff, common to some Brunellos upon opening, that quickly blew off. Complex floral, forest-y, sweet fruit bouquet. Very nice. Very smooth on the palate, lots of sediment on the side of the bottle. Plenty of fruit left but also a lot of savory, leather, olive, mushroomy hints. Medium long finish. Starting to thin out, drink now.
