Tara•Pakay developed by winemaker Ed Flaherty, means ‘Hidden Tree’ in quechua and is the Tarapaca label that gets the finest cabernet sauvignon and syrah grapes from Isla de Maipo. It was launched in 2007 but no wine was made in 2009. Cherries, blueberries and smoky briary bay leaf notes preview a rich, red wine. More smoky, peppery black fruit with tobacco and dried herbs mark the palate and finish. Long and rich this huge red wine will benefit from a decade in bottle. Score: 92 (Anthony Gismondi, WineAlign.com, Mar 2013)
