Crasto Vinho Tinto (V) 2007, Doc Douro
Other Red

Portugal
$14.95 (81588)
Quinta do Crasto (quinta means estate winery/farm) has revolutionized Douro winemaking. From a traditional blend of touriga nacional, tinto roriz, touriga franca and the hearty tinto barroca comes a delicious, vibrant red with pitch perfect cherry fruit embellished by caraway, cedar, leather and fennel notes. Medium weight, juicy and elegant with excellent length. Drink now or age five years. Score - 91. (David Lawrason, www.torontolife.com, Sept. 2008)

Ready to go, this is lush without being overly sweet; expressive with intriguing aromas evolving each time you take another sip. Certainly different from the mainstream, enjoyable, good value.
This medium bodied, fruity wine has aromas of cherry, prune and strawberry. It has a medium finish and subtle tannins (decant for 30 min). My impression: NICE. Tasted Jan/10.
