Fronsac is an undervalued appellation west of Pomerol/St. Emilion, and this is a flagship property. It’s surprisingly dense, polished, open and rich merlot-based red, with a bit of heat on the finish. But it is in-filled with ripe currant fruit, chocolate, herbs and minerality. This so nicely combines poise and richness. Some tannic grit suggests longer ageing, but dive in by 2014-15. Excellent length. Score: 93 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, Feb 2013)
