This is one of the leading names among small Chianti producers. It's an excellent wine with a certain wiry, sinewy character that I equate with the 2008 vintage. It's has an edge that makes it tough drinking now (forget it without food) but the complexity and length are excellent. Expect currant fruit, leather, meaty character, tomato and mocha aromas and flavours. Best 2014 to 2017. Score: 91 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)
