Altesino Brunello Di Montalcino 2007, Docg
Brunello
Tuscany, Italy
$57.95 (994095)
Pale-medium garnet-brick red. Open, effusive, slightly candied/dried red and blue fruit on the nose, with substantial depth and intensity on the palate; tannins are light and fine-grained, evidently very ripe. Sweet, chocolaty wood notes emerge on the finish and pull this back into the more modern style category, so I'd like to see this in 2-4 years when the ensemble has better integrated. Considering the length and depth, I suspect this will improve significantly. This is fine wine to be sure. Score: 91 (John Szabo, MS, www.WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)
