Really like the complexity and generosity here without losing that certain Grave leanness and foresty greenness. It...

Smooth as silk

Description: Deep almost opaque ruby in colour with a medium intense nose. This wine features cedar, blackcurrants, blackberry, black tea, licorice, cinnamon, umami, tobacco leaf, and oregano. Medium+ body with dry tannins, good acidity and a long length.

Negatives: A little heat on the finish from the 14% alcohol

Drink now or in the next 5 years on its own or and pair it with grilled tenderloin steak.

Tasted: 30 July 2014

At almost 11 years of age, the Graves is in a very good place. Fruit is still very much alive, tannin still firm (in a nice way), and the oak is so nicely integrated that is goes unnoticed. Perhaps not quite the complexity and finish of more expensive Bordeaux but immensely enjoyable wine. Drink now, but surely no rush either. Tasted May 2021.
