Roussanne is the classic white grape of the Rhône Valley (often seen in white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, for example). This Rhône Ranger from Cali shows pretty spring flower, apple, pear and peach aromas and flavours. Dry with lots of fruit and plenty of freshness from bright acidity. Enjoy it alongside grilled salmon with orange marmalade and sesame oil sauce. (VINTAGES panel, July 2012)

Florally over the top, almost violent or even combative but what’s wrong with that? Balanced by a sweet shadowfall of peach marmalade. For something other, range to this Mendocino Rhône. @McNabWines
