Here's a well balanced, full, succulent, evidently ripe but not excessive example of malbec from the slightly cooler...

A very pretty nose on this Malbec, with aromas of blueberry, dark plum, currants, violet, light cedar and baking spices. On the mouthfeel, medium-full bodied with delicious forward fruit and spices, well balanced by fresh acidity and firm tannins. This wines finish is long, spicy and very flavourful. I find that in this vintage, this Malbec shows a leaner more restrained style than the last few vintages, but I have to commend them on moving to a much lighter bottle. Definitely better for the environment and the bottom line I am sure. This wine should appeal widely, strongly recommended.

At 14.9% alc/vol we are in the same playing field here as Amarone and the big Cali cabs. That said, a pleasant drinking experience at this level becomes a question of balance…

Densely purple in the glass with stained tears that reveal a high level of extraction. Obvious oak influence but not overpowering. Aromas include a collage of vanilla, cedar, cinnamon, and ripe berries. Full bodied, but balanced with chocolate, mocha, and dark fruit plus enough acidity to hold the package together – for the price, this Argentinean bombshell will (or should) have mass appeal.
