This is a very mature, delicious and elegant Brunello with brick-amber colour. The nose is intriguing with roasted chestnut, dried cran-currant fruit, amaro, leather and clove. It's full bodied, smooth, quite silky and almost sweet with considerable heat, richness and length. Drink now to 2015, maybe a bit longer. Score: 92 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, Jan 2013)

Highly aromatic, this is a decidedly old-fashioned Brunello, with no catering to the more modern heavily extracted, and French-oaked appraoch that some producers have taken. Sour cherries, dried fruit, hints of leather and earth mark this Tuscan beauty. Quite evolved for an '06, this will still keep for several years but this is a lovely wine to drink now and a good value (by Brunello standards). Yum!. Tasted August 2013.

A superb mature nose on this Brunello, with aromas of field berries, sour cherries, red currants, soft leather and lots of savoury spices. On the mouthfeel, a medium-full bodied wine with alcohol coming in at 14%, excellent fruit-acid balance and silky tannins. The length on this Brunello finish is long, slightly hot with flavours of sweet berry fruit, savoury spices and a nice silky texture. This is a very nice Brunello, which is shows a beautiful maturing, elegant and feminine personality. At this price, strongly recommended.

The 2006 Terre Nere Brunello Di Montalcino is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of red currant, cherry, toasted oak and leather. The structure is a little off balance, tannins are refined (decant for 1 hr) and the finish is long and slightly alcoholic. It is still young, so tuck away for at least 2-3 years to allow the structure to harmonize, drink 2015-2020+. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - an excellent price for Brunello’s, especially ones that are not much better – recommended for the cellar. Tasted Apr/12.
